1lb boneless chicken thighs
¾ cup corn starch to coat
- Marinade:
½ tsp salt
½ tsp pepper
2 cloves grated garlic or 1sp garlic powder
1 egg
- Sauce:
2tbsp ketchup
1tbsp soy sauce
1 ½ tbsp. honey
2 tbsp. sugar
2tsp vinegar
5tsp water
2tsp sesame oil
2tsp sesame seeds
Corn starch slurry (1stp corn starch + 4tbsp water)
Directions
- Cut chicken thighs in bite sized pieces and clean it with lime\vinegar and water
- Add chicken marinade, mix everything together then leave it for 30mins
- Add corn starch and coat each piece of chicken
- In a pot over medium heat, add pieces of chicken one at a time
- Allow pieces to fry for 5mins or until they are golden brown then remove from the oil and allow the excess oil to drain while you work on the sauce
- Add ingredients for the sauce in a clean pot over low heat (except sesame seeds, oil, and corn-starch slurry)
- Once sugar particles have dissolved and the mixture has come to a boil, add corn starch slurry while mixing
- Add chicken pieces as soon as this gets thickened
- Move chicken around in the sauce to get each piece nicely coated
- Add sesame oil and seeds then mix again, serve, and enjoy
